A beautiful church filled with world class music, genuinely caring ministers, and a diverse group of people who are supremely nice.

It's true that you get what you give, but it's worth it when you do. There are lots of people here to support you. I'm very happy at Emerson, and have been for the past four years.

Co-ministers Mark and Becky give award winning, intellectually stimulating sermons. The religious education department issues forth amazing students. Adult education serves up talks covering such topics as the Old Testament, Taoism, lectures by Hindu and Buddhist scholars. Fellow members may be the best part: Artists, musicians, poets, WWII thru Afghanistan veterans, persons of every faith tradition. There is more, come by and see for yourself. A T

I am so excited to have found Emerson UU! I started attending the first Sunday after my move back to Houston last month (January 2015) and immediately signed up to teach ESL there on Saturdays. Everyone is very nice, and it is a Welcoming Congregation - that is, welcoming to the LGBTQ community. Each month prior to the service there is an Adult Religious Education group that discusses that month's topic. Last month it was Islam and this month it is LGBTQ. I am grateful that this church is only a block over from where I live... looking forward to getting more involved and getting to know others better as well!

The funny thing about the UU church is that what you get depends upon your willingness to give your time and money to a "diverse" group. This "diversity" depends largely upon the neighborhood each building is in. Bering is a nice address. The closer you get to the periphery of any town, the more "diverse", argumentative and whacked out the well-meaning crowd gets.
Suggest you stay at home, go into the garden and commune with your higher power without some agenda driven bearded fellow and his submissive bride trying to dictate your path to a spiritual understanding.Added September 22, 2016 by LaMarkius Ohblowhole
