  Although structurally dated, the Parish was one of the first Vietnamese Catholic Churches in the Houston area and continues to be the center point of the Houston Vietnamese Catholic community, particularly on weekends when the area is active with teaching Catechism and the Vietnamese language while home to many groups such as Boy Scouts Troop 495, Girl Scouts Troop 3005, TNTT (Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement) et al. The current church was designed with oriental patterns such as dragon tipped roof lines and tiger statues in the front of the church while having Chinese style clay roof tiles. Annual festivities in May dedicated to Mary, Mother of God draw many from outlying churches to join in celebration in the local Houston version of the Marian Days festival. Around autumn, the church holds their annual fundraising festival, flying in nationally acclaimed Vietnamese singers from popular music entertainment companies such as Trung Tam ASIA and Trung Tam Thuy Nga, local groups cooking up traditional Vietnamese foods for the festival, and setting up games & rides for the kids sponsored by various youth groups. I've been involved with this church for a long time and with the ever growing population registered with the church, there's something for everyone whether teaching the faith to the younger generation or singing in one of the choirs. If you have any questions, Father Vuong or Father Thien An are open communicators and are easy to spot, just look for the Dominican priest habit.

  I grew up in this church since i was a kiddo and its really nice (even though ive never been to a differ one lol). But there arent that many american people, but if I explain it, i would say THERE'S NO AMERICANS in this certain church. Like,once, I saw a black guy, and he spoke vietnamese. AND THAT WAS THE GUY AT THE BARBER SHOP. So I reccomend you go to this church if your relaxed around americans.
